The show Zinc made it’s debut in Vilnius last Novembre 2017, in the very same theatre where Nekrošius began his carreer. The play is inspired by the novels of Nobel prize winner author Svetlana Aleksievič; it tells of the last decades of ‘900 through the stories of the wars faught by the URSS in Afghanistan and the explosion of the nuclear reactor in Chernobyl. The zinc ore crates containing the bodies of the victims transported from Afghanistan to their homes symbolically mark the end of an era. The chemical element necessary for life, during war, becomes an emblem of death.
