The discovery of the site of Paestum took place by chance during the reign of Charles of Bourbon. News of the discovery soon spread throughout Europe so that soon ancient Poseidonia became one of the most popular destinations of the aristocratic Grand Tour. As part of the Il Sogno Reale project, the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia offers visitors a special itinerary in conjunction with the tour guides of Paestum, focusing in particular on the Bourbon period. The guided tour will be available every day subject to booking and there will be an extra charge, besides the entrance ticket to the park.
