Écrire et mettre en scène, aujourd’hui is a project within the sixth edition of Face à Face – Parole di Francia per Scene d’Italia, promoted by the Institut Français Italia and by the French Embassy in Italy. This year’s project by Le Panta Théâtre in Caen, consists of two 9-day workshops in Naples (the first is described on page 32). Author Pierre-Yves Chapalain and director Guy Dela-motte worked together with five Italian actors for the second workshop on the text of Travaux d’agrandissement de la fosse. The plot takes place in a seaside town, in a squat where Amos and various transient figures stay. Through mystery, enigmas and secrets, the characters’ stories of exile come to life.
Pierre-Yves Chapalain wrote and directed his first play, La barre de réglisse, in the Espace 31 in Gentilly. During the AFDAS stage at the CDN in Thionville he worked on the production Le Souffle. Chapalain is an author and Associate Director at the Nouveau Théâtre Centre Dramatique National de Besançon et de Franche-Comté.
Guy Delamotte has been co-directing Le Panta Théâtre for some time now, together with Véro Dahuron. This research group is devoted to the theatrical arts and focuses on contemporary drama. It is located in Caen, where it showcases contemporary authors, though both classical and contemporary drama are performed (Patrick Kermann, Zinnie Harris, Philippe Ducros, Fré-déric Sonntag).
