Giardino Romantico di Palazzo Reale

(2006, 100’) by Stephen Frears
May 1997. After eighteen years of administrations carried out by the Conservative Party Tony Blair, a young Scottish member of the Labour Party, becomes Prime Minister of Her Majesty’s government.
He prepares for the mild and detached acceptance rituals led by Queen Elizabeth II. On August 31st of that same year, in Paris, Lady Diana dies in a tragic car accident. The British nation is overcome by grief for the death of “the people’s princess”, while the royal family and the Queen herself linger on vacation, barricading in silence and making return to Buckingham palace only a week after the events; an act that the citizens won’t appreciate.
