A creative residency programme and final performance which brings together the experience of the Leporello Ensemble, the Nantes Opera and a choir recruited from various associations and musical ensembles present in the territory. The texts are excerpts of Cechov’s works (The Seagull, Three Sisters, Ivanov, Uncle Vanya and some short stories). The Belgian theatrical troupe
“Ensemble Leporello” was founded in 1985 by the playwright, librettist and director Dirk Opstaele who has a varied background, having studied art, dance and sociology. Today Opstaele is an independent, multifaceted director who likes to define himself as a “paladin of pure theatre” and who shifts effortlessly between dance and music. This joint work also involved the collaboration of the composer and choir master Kurt Bikkembergs, expert in music and pedagogics, curator of many radio programme, and director of the Radio Flamande choir. The performances of Ensemble Leporello have become part of the classical repertoire of music performances in Europe.
