Prima assoluta
A woman is accused of having murdered her two children. A voice from off-stage interrogates the protagonists regarding the event in an attempt to reconstruct the dynamics, to piece together the parts of the mosaic. Everyone gives their own version: the mother, interpreted by Isabella Ragonese, but also the father, a journalist, a psychologist, a politician and a theatre director…
Taking Care of Baby is a psychological investigation for the truth, which is at the same time a television documentary and a journalistic report. But the filter of the media confounds reality and invents a new reality together with a series of untruths. The scenography is a series of television screens and video cameras and together with Subsonica’s musical accompaniment, the spectator is drawn directly into the plot and is asked to chose what version of the truth to believe.
The Accademia degli Artefatti was founded at the beginning of the 1990’s and following an initial period of visual theatre, they dedicated their energies to contemporary drama with a preference to Anglo-Saxon playwrights. Artefatti has won many awards for their works which are usually characterised by a strong cross-pollination between figurative art, performance and installations.
