Quel gran pezzo della Desdemona is a play freely inspired by Shakespeare’s Othello. The story is set in Milan, during the 1970’s, and told through the childish language of typical sexy-comedies from those years.
The Shakespearean tale is resonant with lusty and oversexed characters. In this case, the city of Milan is shaken by social turmoil and terrorist acts, choking on the fog and explosive smoke. It is hosting a large number of southerners in search of a better life.
Sudden appearances and unexpected surprises fuel the plot of this mise-en-scène: the story is like an accident waiting to happen.
