After the great success of the television series Gomorra, Fortunato Cerlino has now become one of the most sought after actors in Italy and abroad. Now this actor and director presents a text written by himself and with the grotesque title Potevo far fuori la Merkel, ma non l’ho fatto (I could have done away with Merkel, but I didn’t). The story takes place in a block of flats where all the main characters live. Michele and Yvonne have three children and are going through a tough period in their marriage: he is a successful psychoanalyst and she is depressed. Then there is Gloria, his patient and her friend, who dreams to live in Berlin because “Germany is part of history”. And finally Modesto (better known as Steve because he dreams of becoming Steve Jobs), a 38-year-old heroin addict supported by his mother and who passes his days memorising Steve Jobs’ biography and looking at porn. The text gives the spectator a cynical and light-hearted insight into the vices and virtues of society gone adrift.
