The polish poet Wislawa Szymborska was totally unknown abroad. In October 3rd, 1996, she won the Nobel Prize for the poetry that according to the Accademy «allows the Historical and biological context to ironically emerge underneath the fragments of human reality».
Now she is among the most awarded female poets of our times. The Documentary shows a journey to Krakow as well as the history of Poland. The story is told through Szymborska’s lyrics and verses that she herself will read. Furthermore, the journey is also accompanied by friend’s witnesses and other figures (among which the other female poet Ewa Lipska and the film-maker Andrzej Wajda).
These personalities pay a tribute to Wislawa Szymborska honouring her vibrant activism and centrality in the cultural Polish scenario. In 2011
the documentary launched the prestigious Rotterdam Poetry International Festival.
