Giardino Romantico di Palazzo Reale
(1952, 89’) by Orson Welles
During the years of the Maritime Republics, Othello, aka the moor of Venice, is sent by the Doge to defend the fortress of Cyprus from the Turks, just after his wedding with the beautiful and noble
Desdemona. Having chosen Cassius as his assistant, Othello’s envy and jealousy are stirred by the wicked Iago, who starts insinuating doubts in the mind of Othello on his wife’s fidelity.
Through a devilish scam Iago sets up the misunderstanding of Desdemona and her handkerchief; the naïve Othello falls in the trap and, mad with jealousy, strangles his wife with a pillow. Greetings with Ruggero Cappuccio, author, playwright and director of the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia
