On November 19, 2015 Maurizio Igor Meta set sail from the Napoli, on board of a cargo ship retracing his great-grandfather Domenico’s foot steps; In 1890 he had decided to migrate to the United States, in search of luck and a job. This is how the work “Ellis Island” came to be, a multidisciplinary project including Viaggio, set on a cargo ship, the Solo Teatrale (“theatre solo”), a Documentary, a Book and an Exhibition. The Installation “On my great grandfather steps – The first ship” is the first significant step made for the Progetto di Mostra, conceived as an interdisciplinary event combining photography, video-projections, sound, writing and performance.
