Che senso ha se solo tu ti salvi is the third step in a creative process that Davide Iodice dedicates to the crisis of contemporary society: the first two steps were dedicated to the world of dreams and generational inheritance. Inspired by Caravaggio’s Seven Works of Mercy this work deals with the concept of compassion, of empathy. Once again, this research project brings together anthropological and expressive inquiry in a laboratory process involving artistic residencies with actors and non-actors.
The work is a creative journey in two movements. The first – Mettersi nei panni degli altri – is inspired by Vestire gli ignudi – involving actors and the guests of the Naples Hostel for Homeless and the Scarp Tenis project – explores the issue of lost identity.
The second, Dentro, is inspired by “Visitare i detenuti e curare gli ammalati” is presented in the form of a video documentary (projection at START on the 17, 18, 19 June), and illustrates the laboratory work conducted in the Penitentiary Psychiatric Hospital in Secondigliano.
