Museo Madre

The Museo Madre and Contrasto are publishing Mario Martone. 1977-2018 Museo Madre, a monographic volume that – similarly to the great retrospective exhibition it is in reference with – gathers and tells of the forty year-long artistic journey accomplished by one of the most eclectic directors of the Italian scene, engaged with per-formances, cinema, theatre and lyrical opera. In this volume, Mario Martone edits the photography taken from his theatre plays, cinema and lyrical works with the same criteria used in organising the exhibition at the Madre museum, setting up a visual ux that brings in relation different time periods and style languages, offering a viewpoint of one of the many paths researched by the director in considering the “direct experience” made by the audience.
