Pavese’s life and soul are told in a story with two voices and two instruments, margins of a wound between childhood and adulthood, city and countryside, desire and inability to be loved, individual solitude and civil commitment, ecstasy and reality, myth and history. Carousel of opposites on a day of celebration, ballad of hopes, memories, loves and disappointments, journeys of the heart and thought that overlap, between Italy after the Second World War and the mythical and timeless America that Pavese never visited if not in the books he loved and translated. On August the 27th 1950 Pavese committed suicide in a hotel in Turin. He was 42.
