With this new narrative Ascanio Celestini tells us about the life of an improbable Jesus who «lives shut up in his apartment in the outskirts of the city. From his window he can see a supermarket parking lot, and a tramp who begs for money during the day and sleeps in a makeshift cardboard hut at night. Christ is also accompanied by Peter who spends most of his time out and about in contact with the world: he shops, buys spare parts for the water boiler, and does odd-jobs to earn money. This Christ has not become flesh to redeem Mankind. Indeed, we are not even certain that he is the Son of God, or some schizophrenic who believes he is. If the Creator were to become flesh to redeem Mankind and to live and suffer its existence, shouldn’t this modern incarnation also experience the fears and doubts of the present day».
