CAPODIMONTE – MANIFATTURA DELLA PORCELLANA (PORTA MIANO)
DAL 15 AL 21 JUNE ORE 19.00 DURATA 1H+30MIN

Over there, Baudelaire foretold, everything is calm, light and sensual pleasure. But the opposite may also be true. Everyone has a gap that has to be bridged, an over there that needs to be reached and experienced. It is an invitation to travel.
But you can also travel by sitting still on an armchair or with your cheek on a pillow.
Over there can be a crowded or an empty town, an island, a plateau, a plain, a simple hedge, possibly a cloud or a thunderstorm or the restless expanse of the sea.
Poets know how to place this adverb on their path, keep it company and do their best to ensure they are not bereft of it.
“Over there” appears in their verses like an indicator, it flashes at the end of the line or opens it at the beginning.
It is this year’s path-word.
It is our way of being close to the loneliness of writing.

TUESDAY 15 JUNE

 FUIR, LÀ-BAS, FUIR…
WITH SALVATORE DI NATALE

Voyage au bout de l’ennui (Voyage to the edge of boredom): this is the subtitle of the performance which starts with an incipit from Mallarmé. “Yes,”writes Di Natale, who has always liked mixing the languages, “the Poet is (nearly always) a person on the run. And he runs far away… where from and where to? Voilà la question. Over there towards … Nowhere or towards the Cradle of the world?”

EL BLUES DI LOI

DRAMATURGY IGOR ESPOSITO
WITH MILVIA MARIGLIANO E IGOR ESPOSITO
SOUND and trumpet CIRO RICCARDI

An actress and a poet, accompanied by a musician stage the verses of one of the strongest Italian poet voices of the second half of the twentieth century: Franco Loi.
The result is a blues in which Milanese dialect, an ever-present feature of Loi’s work, alternates with Italian and Neapolitan, underlining the universal significance of Loi’s poetry.

16 JUNE
NEL GRAN MARE DELL’ESSERE
WITH GIUSEPPE CONTE

An evening devoted to Giuseppe Conte, one of the greatest contemporary Italian poets.
Conte (born in Imperia in 1945) is a multi-faceted personality, full of interests. A traveller, story-teller, essayist, his verses are the expressive synthesis of different worlds where the east and the west meet and where the gods reinhabit the earth, diving into the immense sea of life.

17 JUNE
POLIFONIE
WITH ELISA BIAGINI, CARMEN GALLO E DANIELE MENCARELLI

Three voices to represent the over there in contemporary poetry through sounds.
Born between the seventies and the eighties, Carmen Gallo, Elisa Biagini and Daniele Mencarelli, show us what it means to write poetry in Italy today. Each of them does it in their own distinctive way but, just for one evening, their voices intertwine.

18 JUNE
CINQUE POETI PER LOUISE GLÜCK
WITH FRANCESCO IANNONE, GIOVANNA MARMO, DAMIANO SCARAMELLA, FABRIZIO SINISI, LUIGI TRUCILLO

Recently awarded the Nobel prize for literature, the American poet is able to engage with one of our most intimate landscapes, as is demonstrated by the verses of Averno, published for the first time in Italy by the far-sighted Neapolitan publisher Dante&Descartes.
We have asked several Italian poets to choose and read her verses, to pay her tribute through a kind of part-song.

19 JUNE
26 – TRIBUTE TO THE TWENTY-SIX DEAD WOMEN
WITH GIANCARLO CAVALLO
IN COLLABORATION WITH CASA DELLA POESIA DI BARONISSI 25 ANNI
In 2017 the Spanish ship Cantabria moored in the port of Salerno carrying four hundred migrants, rescued in the Mediterranean, and twenty-six corpses of women, “presumably from Nigeria” aged between 14 and 18, who presumably drowned. Their number, 26, becomes the title of the short poem by Giancarlo Cavallo.

20 JUNE
SANDRO PENNA
VESTITA DI LUI WITH IAIA FORTE

An actress dresses herself in the verses of Sandro Penna (12 June 1906 –21 January 1977), one of Italy’s most cherished poets, a classic exponent of twentieth century poetry.
“Sandro Penna, a poet I have always loved,” writes Iaia Forte, “and whose works I have long wanted to give voice to. The grace, sensuality, originality and mystery I find in his words give me the same emotions as when going to meet a lover. I am grateful for this opportunity, as one is always grateful to someone who opens you up to love”.

21 JUNE
ALLE PORTE DELL’ALTROVE
WITH UGO PISCOPO E RENATO CARPENTIERI

After celebrating Antonio Spagnuolo and Rino Mele, Laggiù this year focuses on and gives space and importance to the multi-faceted talents of a neglected artist like Ugo Piscopo, capable of combining Futurism, Alberto Savinio and the tumultuous and fragmented form of listening of the present day. He will be accompanied by the great actor Renato Carpentieri will lend his voice and body to his verses.
