In 2013, the Festival hosted La Réunification des deux Corées (The Reunification of the two Koreas) by Joël Pommerat, one of the most interesting playwrights in the international theatre scene. Despite the enigmatic title, he bring to Naples a play which talks simply of love. The political division of the two Koreas is nothing more than a metaphor for us to interrogate ourselves on the difficulty of bringing together two twin souls.
Two years after the first production, Alfonso Postiglione has decided to stage this work by this French author once again: «Celebrating above all the difficulties and hurdles of sentimental experience – affirms Postiglione – Pommerat has constructed a kaleidoscope of situations each independent from each other, but which progress one after the other in an obsessive quest; a true illusion (of love) because there is no union without separation, appropriation without loss, happiness without pain. An inevitable carousel, but it is love that dictates the necessary conditions and implacably set the rules».
