I and you: the two pronouns of the poet.
The first, I, delves deep inside oneself, as if reaching the centre of the earth.
The second, You, is found lending out to the other: by loving, letting be, yearning.
The You that comes and goes, like Baudelaire’s “passantes”.
Or like Montale’s concept of the “You”, malleable and shared, but nonetheless one.
The relation of I and You gives strength to raise the arch of Us.
I and You: the title of a literary overview conceived in continuity with theatre.
Poetry is the literary practice that is closest to that of theatre.
Poetry is the one that never strayed from its relationship with oral tradition.
Poets often remember the special need to be welcoming with those that exceed us.
Hence, ten encounters thought up as a circle to occupy and live in, just before the sun goes down.
Some actors are drawn to poets and love their work so much to become the staged voice itself.
Then there are poets that converse with other poets.
And voices that take spoken words and overflow them into singing, and then trace back in origin.
Then there are poetic jam-sessions.
We will hear live spoken words and watch films telling of the stories of past poets.
There will also be a library, entirely dedicated to the art of poetry.
The event will be hosted in Villa Pignatelli, which will become for ten days a true house of poetry.
Just like years ago it had become the house of room music, leaving audiences to freely view rehearsals and auditions for the show.
The show Io e Tu is deliberately based according to that model.
