As part of the Il Sogno Reale programme of events, the Fondazione Ente Ville Vesuviane is putting on the play Franceschiello – l’ultimo re di Napoli (Franceschiello – the last king of Naples), produced by Il Demiurgo. The play is set on 13 February 1861 and tells the story of the final departure of Francis II, King of the Two Sicilies from the outpost of Gaeta, the last bulwark of his kingdom towards his exile. In a timeless, dreamlike narrative, the play moves back and forth in time through a conversation between Francis II and his wife Maria Sofia. Ticket 15 euros.
Plays are performed in the Exedra of Villa Campolieto – Ercolano Saturday 3 July 7.30 pm, 9.30 pm.
