Chronicles of a city we thought we knew is based on a true story that occurred in Damasco during the beginning of the revolution: the suicide of a young woman on a summer night in 2011. The director and playright Wael Kadour — a graduate of the Superior Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damasco, today a refugee in Paris —, evokes certain aspects of Sirian society before and after the revolution, shedding a light on the intrinsic violence of the political, economical and religious system in his Country.
