Cassandra, the most beautiful of Priam’s daughters, loved by Apollo and not having returned to his love, gifted with unrivalled prophetic skills. Indeed it is Cassandra herself who is the true protagonist of this latest work by Laura Angiulli. From excerpts taken from texts by Aeschylus, Euripides, Lycophron and other more contemporary works by Christa Wolf and Enzo Moscato, this performance involves recitations by Alessandra D’Elia and Caterina Spadaro, shared with a “sung performance” by Maria Pia De Vito based on a musical score by Enrico Cocco. A true heroine emerges, according to the director, «she withdraws from the suffering mass of women who populate the scenario offered by Priam’s extended family to affirm herself with her controversial personality in a role which, if examined closely, is first and foremost political. Cassandra observes with great lucidity, she penetrates within the very truth of her days, never giving up and ever more enraged. She approaches her pitiless destiny as a slave and victim whilst Troy, together with her own painful story, is consumed by flames».
