Il teatro nel bronx di Napoli
«In places where people shoot and deal drugs, we want to hit the soul with the beauty and deal with culture. We want to prove that this could be a drunken experience». This is what the Nest’s counsellors said, presenting a project that aims to set the theatre in the symbolic sites of the Eastern suburb of Naples. Neapolitan Bronx is highly affected by the Camorra plague.
Culture becomes a way to heal the social fabric. The idea is to create an urban amphitheatre in the suburb in order to let the show break into the block.

The protagonists of Gli Onesti della Banda are Tonino, a graduate of the bargain who, having found no work, decides to inherit the dead father’s consierge and his best friend Peppino, who manages the family typographers, burdened with debt after buying new machinery. The administrator of the palace in which Tonino works is the accountant Casoria, a man in precarious balance between legality and illegality, who constantly attends to the honesty of the young porter…

To animate the area of San Giovanni in Teduccio, on the days of the festival, also Ippolito Chiariello’s theatrical wandering, an actor who offers his performances, as well as theater, street or non-theatrical places, selling them in pieces with a list. The artist establishes an economic compensation for each show, creates a price-list and distributes it to the audience of passage. The viewer chooses the piece he wants to hear, pays him and the artist performs, also trying to explain the meaning of this experience.
