DIREZIONE ARTISTICA RUGGERO CAPPUCCIO – 2022
Due to the reopening of theatres following the measures adopted for the COVID-19 health emergency, the Campania Teatro Festival returns for its 15th edition, with 145 events scheduled from the 10th June to 12th of July. Once again this year, the event’s claim is ‘Il teatro rinasce con noi’, accompanied by a renewed commitment to promoting initiatives with significant and positive environmental and ecological impact, such as the reduction of CO2 emissions and the use of electric mobility.
In the wake of last year’s positive experience, the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte will once again serve as the main venue for the event, with four stages created on purpose thanks to the collaboration with director Sylvain Bellenger. In Naples, performances are also scheduled in the Mercadante, Politeama, Trianon, Nuovo and Sala Assoli theatres; at the Madre Museum, in the Historical Archives of the Banco di Napoli, in Ponticelli and at the Sanità.
The main feature remains that of multidisciplinarity between the arts, with programming divided into 9 sections: National Prose, International Prose, Dance, Observatory, SportOpera, Music, Literature, Cinema, Special Projects. For the latter, the Festival produces two shows in collaboration with the ‘Pompeii Theatrum Mundi’ review, staged at the Teatro Grande in Pompeii. International stars include Daniel Auteuil and Charlotte Rampling, who light up the stage of the Mercadante on two different evenings.
At Capodimonte, after last year’s debut, “Il sogno reale” comes to life once again. This year “I Borbone di Napoli” (The Bourbons of Naples), a project by Ruggero Cappuccio curated by Marco Perrillo, includes the editing and publication of a guide to the Bourbon sites in Campania, edited by Perillo himself and distributed for free to the public.
Outside Naples, other beautiful locations in the region serve as stages for the evenings of the Festival, including: the Lungomare and the Piccolo Teatro Porta Catena in Salerno; the Teatro Comunale in Caserta; the Forest of Tora and Piccilli (SA); the municipality of Pietrelcina (BN); the Teatro Colosseo in Baiano; the municipality of Capaccio Centro (SA); and the Coppola palace in Valle Cilento (SA).
Maestro Mimmo Paladino, with his generous creativity, once again takes care of the image of the event, with colours and shapes capable of converting the identity and soul of the 2022 edition into art. Confirmed, moreover, is the reduced ticket price policy, set at 8 and 5 euros, with free admission for the most fragile social groups. Finally, the proceeds from the shows of the project “Il sogno reale. I Borbone di Napoli’ will be donated to the Santobono Hospital in Naples.
