Fondazione Campania dei Festival celebrates the contemporary dance icon Pina Bausch ten years after her death, with a long-lasting tribute that will begin during the 2019 edition of Napoli Teatro Festival Italia, and will end in autumn with a video installation dedicated to the founder of the Wuppertal Tanztheater.
The performance Moving with Pina choreographed and performed by Cristiana Morganti will be staged at Museo Madre on 8 June at 9.30 p.m. A dance lecture in which the historical interpreter of the Tanztheater proposes a journey into the universe of Pina Bausch, seen from the perspective of the dancer. By performing live some extracts from Pina Bausch’s choreographic repertoire, Cristiana Morganti tells her own artistic and human journey with the great German choreographer and shows how much dedication, imagination, and attention to detail are found in the language of movement created by Pina Bausch. The show is the first stage of the project shared with Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee.
The autobiographical aspect is a fundamental element of the work of Cristiana Morganti, who will conduct a residence at Teatro Nest – Napoli Est Teatro from 9 to 15 June. Cristiana Morganti will work on this new project with five internationally renowned artists from heterogeneous professional backgrounds: Anna Fingerhuth, Damiaan Veens, Maria Giovanna delle Donne, Justine Lebas and Antonio Montanile. The restitution of the final work of the residency, tentatively titled Creation 2019, will debut within the winter section of the festival Quartieri di Vita 2019, in co-production with Il Funaro-Pistoia, Fondazione Campania dei Festival, Fondazione Teatro Piemonte Europa, Teatro Metastasio Stabile della Toscana, Associazione Teatrale Pistoiese, Teatro Stabile del Veneto Carlo Goldoni and Ma Scène Nationale – Pays De Montbeliard.
From 8 to 9 June at Palazzo Fondi in via Medina in Naples, Kenji Takagi – a former dancer of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch – will lead the workshop La spontaneità del movemento. Like Bausch, Takagi perceives dance as a sequence of dynamic events, focusing on what is alive in the moment of creation. The workshop is targeted at professional dancers and aims to maintain the liveliness, spontaneity, and richness of the initial experience of the movement. Moving with Pina, Creazione 2019, La spontaneità del movimento are made with the financial support of the Goethe-Institut of Naples and the Federal Foreign Office of Berlin.
On November 25 at Museo Madre, the Pina Bausch Foundation will inaugurate a video installation that represents the second step of the collaboration between Fondazione Campania dei Festival and Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee . In addition to an audiovisual path that displays Pina Baush’s shows taken from the archive of the Bausch Foundation, there will be a series of mini-workshops for amateur and professional dancers directed by the dancers of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch Company.
