Contractions by British playwright Mike Bartlett takes place in the office of a multinational company. On stage there are two female characters: one of them is a nameless woman, a merciless manager who embodies the mortifying mechanism of the company and uses all her power with strategic perversion. On the other side, there is Emma, a young precarious worker who goes from a state of independence to total subjugation. An edgy text that talks about how we can become or how we already are, how much we are in danger, and how our spaces of freedom, intimacy, and love must be protected.
