Much has been written on the importance of travel for actors and companies – asked to reach different audiences and to invent forms of survival. The story of successful tours and adventures in foreign lands is part of memoirs and autobiographies of a period when it was difficult to create minimum safety levels for oneself and one’s companions. The aim is to tackle this story, discussing “high” forms – leading actors and the planetary dimension of their triumphs – and the “low” forms of theatrical and cinematographic migration.

LECTURE PERFORMANCE

GIARDINO DEI PRINCIPI (PORTA GRANDE) 29 JUNE 7.00 PM DURATION 1 HOUR

Street poetry, the grimy form of poetry that looks out on the world from the pavements, rejects the restraint of labels to hit hard with words that have been used widely and always end up in the same place where certainties crumble. Djarah Kan and Wissal Houbabi, two artists on the fringe, meet halfway. One, a daughter of the south which no longer makes promises, the other, a daughter of the north, which is unable to keep those promises. The journey takes place on the tracks of politically incorrect poetry and eventually ends up in the theatre, the street theatre of working-class women.

What paths has Arab theatre taken in the contemporary era and how should one approach a corpus of work that is becoming increasingly fragmentary and complex? A discussion will take place involving artists, lecturers, researchers and others working the field of culture who, through the works of authors such as Wael Ali, Wael Qaddour, Sara Shaarawi and Wihad Sulayman, will attempt to come up with an answer. The event is part of the project of the Fondazione Campania dei Festival and “L’Orientale” University of Naples which, over the last years, has promoted a workshop on the translation of the works of contemporary Arab playwrights.

Solitary, authoritarian, in charge, privileged, indifferent or even innately hostile to a community project. How many prejudices surround the figure of the director in the collective unconsciousness? Do they still reflect reality? Or do these definitions refer to a textbook form of direction that no longer exists, and no longer reflect the actual lives of the vast majority of those who have chosen this profession in Italy? R.A.C. (Regist_a confronto – Directors’ debate forum ), is the first association for film and theatre directors in Italy and was set up amidst the Covid-19 emergency as a space for discussion and debate.

The pandemic has arguably added 51 years to the achievement of gender equality, shifting the goal from 2120 to 2171, involving every single field, including the field of theatre. In this yawning gap it is possible to identify the features of new “enterprises” made up of women, capable of generating culture and creativity and of dismantling prejudices and barriers in the social fabric in which they operate.
To what extent does female labour affect social and cultural activities in Campania?
