On stage we have three female figures, a metaphor of the different ages of life: a young girl, an adolescent and an elderly woman. Their unique meeting sanctions a sort of changeover. The audience is drawn into the story through an alternation of three different lives told in dif-ferent linguistic registers.
This is the successive step in the pluri award winning production The End which was a profound examination on death; now The Rerum Natura offers us a poetical reflection on the passage of life, on the ineluctability of its flow and the colours which characterise each of its periods. The weight of the words – lighter or heavier, more delicate or more playful – depends entirely on the voice of the person who pronounces them: the innocence, boldness and maturity of who is speaking determines its significance.
Founded by Enrico Castellani and Valeria Raimondi in 2005, Babilonia Teatri, quickly gained fame in Italy due to its very personal scenic language, strongly contemporary and which has undoubtedly contributed to the many awards that the company has received. Babilonia Teatri define their own style as “pop, rock, punk”; they portray a type of reality which leaves no space for moralism but creates a powerful expressivity through the combination of words, images, sound and music.
