Null represents a meeting place between tradition and modernity, between the strong sensuality of the dancers and the profound spirituality of the ambience. As evident in their performances, the object of the Vertigo Dance Company is to create a physical space where the dancers and spectators can venture into a stimulating and unexpected journey of discovery into unknown lands. Noa Wertheim has brought about her latest creation thanks to the collaboration of the music of Ran Begano, the light designer Danny Fishof and the costumes and scenography of Rakefet Levi.
The stage is limited by semitransparent walls against which we see white wash hand basins each with running water. The male dancers are all dressed in black, some wearing long tulle skirts whereas the female dancers are all dressed in light cambric which stand out against the illuminated backdrop.
The serenity of the composition is seen in the intensity of slow motion sequences suggesting ritual images and theatrical captions which are almost like Wertheim’s trademark.
