Ta-kai-ta is a heartfelt, original tribute by Enzo Moscato to Luisa De Filippo (Luisella), Eduardo’s second daughter, who died at a young age at the end of the ’50s. According to Moscato, she represents a sort of metaphor for the short-lived feeling of renewal which came upon the city of Naples after World War II.
«It is since the great Leo de Berardinis – says the director – that this had not been attempted. What is more, while his beautiful reproduction was exclusively for the stage, mine – I say this with humility, mind you – was a rewriting effort, one fragment after the other, surrounding the soul (obviously an imaginary, fantasy one) of last century’s most famous Italian playwright ».
Enzo Moscato played a key role in new Neapolitan drama in the ‘80s by boasting his fine writ-ing style: brave and sensitive, with a variety of language and dialect forms, both ancient and modern. The complexity and contradictions of Naples are always at the heart of his work (Rasoi, Pièce Noire, Occhi gettati, Lingua, carne, soffio) which he describes in a vivid and pas-sionate way. He has also worked for cinema in Morte di un matematico napoletano by Mario Martone, Libera by Pappi Corsicato, Il verificatore by Stefano Incerti.
