The Tempest is a farewell. Shakespeare’s goodbye to theatre, the goodbye to a certain type of theatre that suddenly breaks the magic wand, giving up the tricks that are considered outdated. “We shall make of it”, states Luca De Fusco, “an act of so-long to the Twentieth century, welcoming the arrival of the new millennium. A consideration on today, on the repugnance of current times that ever so often spreads among us. This, I believe, will make the audiences surely identify with Prospero, interpreted for the occasion by Eros Pagni”.
