Luca De Fusco brings to the stage for the sixth edition of the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia an adaptation of one of the most monumental historical tragedy by William Shakespeare, Antonio e Cleopatra. The director will give birth to a musical-visual version having an intense scenic and emotional impact where there is a strong relationship between the recited word and the music.
«Antonio e Cleopatra – says De Fusco – is associated with the monumentality and the exotic, almost like a kind of Aida of the prose. We are rather preparing a dry and essential performance, all centered on the valorization of the word, in the new translation by Gianni Garrera, and on the relationship with the music, renovating the structure of Antigone, based on the talent of the Israeli musician Ran Bagno and on the strong attitude of my actors to play along with the music. The choice we made – said the director – is to continue with the anti-naturalism, with the contamination among theater, cinema, music and a recitation which is intense and guarded at the same time».
