Defined by the Oscar winner Jonathan Demme – who made a documentary about him – as “John Lennon’s spiritual son”, Enzo Avitabile has dedicated his life to the search of new vital and essential sounds, outside of any commercial logic, of all conformity or fashion. In line with his search of fusion between ancient and modern, Enzo Avitabile performs for the Festival together with the Bottari di Portico, an ensemble born from the desire to regain songs and music of the peasants in Campania who, in ancient times, frantically hit the tools used in everyday work in the fields as a ritual for a good harvest and to drive away evil spirits. The mixing between the personal sound of Avitabile and the addictive rhythm of the Bottari produces a harmonic short circuit between ancient and modern, between tradition and experimentation.
