Prima assoluta
The life of Emily Dickinson told through her poetry and her relationship with the persons closest to her: her conversations with Susan, first friend and then sister-in-law, with her brother Austin, with the literary critic Thomas Higginson whom she much admired, shows us an Emily who – even though having chosen to isolate herself in her house – desire not to renounce love not to be loved.
An intimate and poetic portrait which created the image of an unconventional woman who, in a puritanical and rigidly moralistic environment, manages to conquer her own liberty by choosing isolation. The suggestive setting of the Real Orto Botanico helps in creating a magical atmosphere for the spectators who are someway suspended in space and time. In this itinerant performance, Giovanna Di Rauso interprets the role of Emily while Giancarlo Cosentino and Susanna Poole play the role of the other characters.
The original text by Antonella Cilento is adapted for the stage by Giorgia Palombi, director and founder of Maniphesta Teatro, active since 1998 in the field of theatrical production and social theatre.
