Prima assoluta

In the last scene of Napoli in frac by Raffaele Viviani the Neapolitan lawyer and his colleague from Bologna assist at a singing competition on a beach. This is now inspiration for this musical production ‘E feste a mmare which presents the magnificent characters and songs of Viviani’s works in competition with each other: the protagonists of Napoli in Frac, Bebè il cocainomane of Santa Lucia Nova, Mimì di Montemurro and the boys, Riccitiello ‘o purparo and Nannina, Don Ciro and his enemy Aitano…
Following on from last year’s success with Otello and Iago which was ambiented on a sailing boat, this year Antonella Monetti returns with another “marine” performance with the participation of 6 boys from the correctional institution of Nisida. Watching from the beach, the audience will witness a performance in which the stage is a boat – illuminated and festooned for a popular festival – comes alongside the shore with an orchestra on board. The unsettling beauty of Viviani’s music is heard from this fascinating setting with the silhouette of the tiny island of Nisida in the background.
After studying theatre and music in Bologna, Antonella Monetti continued her studies at La Bottega Teatrale in Florence under the direction of Vittorio Gassman. Since then, she has worked both in theatre and in television as an actress and scriptwriter. In 2000, she founded the company “I liberanti” with which she produced a series of performances with prisoners and ex-prisoners in the cities theatres and prisons.
