In a basement of a church in the outskirts of Boston, a group of people are playing bingo; Margie Walsh, recently sacked for continual lateness is one of the group. In her desperate search for a new job, she asks an old schoolfriend and ex-boyfriend, Mike – who succeeded in escaping from their childhood neighbourhood – to help her start afresh. But things don’t work out quite as hoped.
Written by the much-awarded American author David Lindsay-Abaire, Good People is a gripping tale, high-spirited, moving with a rich, caustic dialogue. The two protagonists are interpreted by the theatre and cinema actress Michela Cescon accompanied with Luca Lazzareschi who has recently completed a successful tour with Antony and Cleopatra. Directed by Roberto Andò (also director of the successful movie Viva la libertà) who affirms that «… it is rare to be able to read such an interesting contemporary theatrical text, such an intriguing, subtle and convincing meeting of characters. We are all able to delve into the profound truth of Margie – heroine of secrets and fatality – as a true messenger of the authority of humankind which every true work of art should embody».
