La Veronal is a Spanish artistic company founded in 2005 by Marcos Morau, a choreographer who trained in Barcelona, Valencia and New York. The group is composed of artists from different disciplines including dance, cinema, photography and literature; its focus is a constant research into the plurality of media to create new and innovative poetic spaces.
For the past few years La Veronal has started on a project on the cities and nations of the world. Each work starts from a choice of a location to be penetrated and in which to lose oneself: after having identified the most significant elements, performances are created as an analogy between dance and geography.
Russia is a sort of road movie through the vast territory of Siberia. In an atmosphere of suspense and mystery, the performance – with an old saloon car as the only prop – examines the theme of fear with the same ambiguous suspense of some of David Lynch’s movies.
