Love Stories by Katia and Marielle Labèque focuses on the story of Romeo and Juliet. In the first part, the pianists interpret Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, then Star-Cross’d Lovers by David Chalmin follows, accompanied by Yaman Okur’s original choreography performed by seven dancers.
«We thought of creating a two-part performance, based on the story of the two Veronese lovers. Firstly, an adaptation for two pianos and percussion from Leonard Bernstein’s work, then Star-Cross’d Lovers, written specifically for the occasion by David Chalmin. Through his masterful choreography of contemporary and break dance performed by seven dancers, Yaman narrates this age-old love story in a modern and non-conventional way».
