John Ford, was an Elizabethan dramatist and Tis pity she’s a Whore published in 1633 is considered his finest work: full of dramatic tension in which the prohibited passion between two siblings contrasts with a hypocritical and corrupt world. Set in Parma, many memorable renditions of this work have been made: a 1961 version set in Paris and directed by Luchino Visconti, with Alain Delon and Romy Schneider; a site-specific rendition for the Teatro Farnese in Parma by Luca Ronconi in 2003; the 1971 film directed by Giuseppe Patroni Griffi entitled Addio, fratello crudele.

This adaptation by Laura Angiulli focuses the dramatic action on the incestuous passion between the “siblings-lovers” Giovanni and Annabella: a text full of chaos, alchemy, relations and a profound knowledge of human nature keep us in touch with the original version.
