Giardino Romantico di Palazzo Reale
(1971, 134’) by Roman Polanski
Motivated by a prophecy made by three witches that assisted his crowning and by his ambitious wife, Macbeth brutally kills Duncan, King of Scotland. To ensure his place on the throne he
also has his faithful companion and friend Banquo killed, to whom the witches had foreseen his becoming father of a lineage of kings. The trail of violence left behind won’t wash away and Lady
Macbeth, perhaps out of remorse, becomes ill and dies. Even Macbeth, now a slave to the witches’ predicaments, is finally murdered by the rebellious group who successfully restore the
rightful heir Malcom as king.
