A real-life Pulcinella tells the story of Macbeth through Mr. Punch, a 17th Century English puppet. A Pierrot interpreting Hamlet, however, takes his place, just to be bumped out of the scene by Romeo seeking to win the heart of Juliet, a beautiful marionette. Romeo is convinced that Juliet is dead, he therefore drinks the poison and turns into Mobarak, a character from the Persian theatre marionette tradition. Pressured by Jago/Totò, he will first kill Juliet/Desdemona and then himself.
