The Army of Sleepwalkers by the collective group of writers Wu Ming is set during the roaring years of the French Revolution, from 1792 to 1794. The story deals with a time period of great turmoil, and is told through the lives of four characters: Orphée D’Amblanc, an hypnotist doctor investigating on some unusual cases of sleep-walking; Marie Nozière, a low-class tailor struggling for women’s rights; Leo Madonnét, the Italian actor “fall-en from grace” that joins the revolution; and the anti-revolutionary Knight d’Yvers, a powerful Lord who is expert in somnambulism techniques.
«The French Revolution becomes a big spyglass of our current times – says de Goyzueta – an observation for those who desire to change the world».
