«On my high school text-book, the part on the life of Leopardi ended something like this: “when he was 39 years old, he finally experienced the relief of death”. Sbam! Nothing new, it’s a common truth, but to me it sounded out of tune. How can a man – even when he chants of the world’s pains – that has travelled everywhere in Italy, without the high-speed vehicles or even just a car, loving women, food, constantly changing literary genres and always writing… how can someone like that, so lively, really hate life so much to the point of desiring it’s imminent end?
Here is where the play and game begin… the game of theatre».
