AFTER POMPEI THE SHOW WILL GO TO SCENE ON 28 AND 29 JUNE AT THE ROMAN THEATER OF VERONA

The Tempest is a farewell. Shakespeare’s goodbye to theatre, the goodbye to a certain type of theatre that suddenly breaks the magic wand, giving up the tricks that are considered outdated. “We shall make of it”, states Luca De Fusco, “an act of so-long to the Twentieth century, welcoming the arrival of the new millennium. A consideration on today, on the repugnance of current times that ever so often spreads among us. This, I believe, will make the audiences surely identify with Prospero, interpreted for the occasion by Eros Pagni”.

AFTER POMPEI, THE SHOW WILL GO TO SCENE ON 8 JULY 2019 AT THE ALIGHIERI THEATER IN RAVENNA

Sophocle’s Oedipus at Colonus is perhaps the finest declination of grief. In the play, the deep roots of mysterious energies that mankind is called to challenge since thousands of years all intertwine. The ‘trans-generational’ passing-on of evil resonates in a poetic form, where philosophy, rituality and free will meet for a fatal appointment.
In the re-adapted version by Ruggero Cappuccio we land in a place of memories lost in time. A place where the everlasting traces of classicism are signs reflecting relevant issues from last century: from psychoanalysis to wars, to the struggles of the people reaching out for power.

Andrea De Rosa is staging the Satyricon, inspired by Petronius and entrusting the shrewd and talented Francesco Piccolo for the script. This is how Piccolo defines his re-writing of the classical play: “The decay in Rome, the desperate opulence, the corruption, the – rather tacky – patronage of the arts. The parties, the dinners. All of this had already been considered by Petronius, but still needs to be told. To try and re-write the script, making the Satyricon a contemporary work using the linguistic clutches of today’s decadent mundanity is both electrifying and somehow natural”.

The Vertigo Dance Company, one of the major companies of contemporary dance in Israel, presents a new creation in world premiere. A show inspired by the topic of creation in the world, seen as a pure and divine game of that ‘lost paradise’ and laid-out according to the unmistakable style – abstract, allusive and surreal – of the choreographer Noa Wertheim.
