Inspired by the correspondence of love letters between Luigi Pirandello and Marta Abba, the show Non domandarmi di me, Marta mia (Don’t ask me about me, Dear Marta) takes place in a precise date in time: December 10th, 1936, the day in which Luigi Pirandello passed away. The story is also set in a precise location in space: New York, where Marta Abba was, at the time, working in a theatre in Broadway. During this night of funeral wake, the actress reads some of the letters received by her ‘Maestro’, reminiscing the “ghostlike images” of the heroines that Pirandello had come up with for her… for his beloved Marta.
