After staging Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew in 2013-2014, Andrej Konchalovskij has come out with a second direction for an Italian play at the Stabile di Napoli, one of Ingmar Bergman’s most relevant works: Scenes from a Marriage.
The unspoken truths between Marianne and Johan, only in appearance a very happy couple, ends in a violent break up after Johan’s decision to leave wife and daughters for a younger student. He, however, turns out to be an extremely fragile individual, victim of his own instincts and of the self-imposed bourgeois conformism.
